
The Biggest Loser: Last Chance Workout is one of the best new workout DVDs on the market, an excellent choice. This is one of several workouts based on NBC's hit TV show the Biggest Loser, and the only recent one done by star trainer Jillian Michaels. Even before its December 2009 release, it was Amazon's fourth best selling fitness DVD, illustrating Jillian's large and trusted following.
The DVD claims it can help people lose up to 30 pounds in six weeks, which seems a bit much to us, but again, it is done by a proven fitness expert, and is one of the better workout DVDs out there.
Content: There are three workouts on the DVD's relatively modest 55 minutes, but all are designed to be a challenge, a mix of cardiovascular workout and strength training.
There is one especially intense 25-minute interval routine and two 10-minute programs that work your upper and lower body. Starting with a warm-up program, you have the option of three challenging ''last chance'' workouts aimed at burning calories and sculpting targeted muscle groups. Afterwards you can follow up with a relaxing cooldown. As with so many fitness DVDs lately, these workouts can be alternated or combined to get a more extensive routine. We'd have preferred an extra routine or two to let you mix and match more and stave off boredom, but what's here is very good.
